Best Uses

A case this size is built for use across a whole season, or several. Keep a few boxes in the truck for ground squirrels and pests, and a few in the range bag. The hollow point is made to open up on soft targets, which a solid round nose will not do. The light 38-grain bullet is a little faster than a 40-grain load, so it shoots a bit flatter at normal rimfire ranges. Buy the Aguila Super Extra hollow point by the case so every box comes from the same lot. Check local laws before you hunt with any hollow point.

FAQ

What is 22LR hollow point ammo used for?
Hollow points are made to expand in soft targets. Hunters use them for squirrels, rabbits and pests. For paper and steel, a round nose costs less and works just as well.

How many rounds are in a case of Aguila 22LR?
This case holds 2,000 rounds, packed as 40 boxes of 50. The same Super Extra hollow point also comes in a smaller 500-round bulk pack.

Is 38 grain 22LR good for hunting?
It is a common hunting weight. The 38-grain hollow point is lighter and faster than a 40-grain load, which helps it open on small game at normal rimfire ranges.

How long does 22LR ammo last in storage?
Kept cool, dry and sealed, rimfire ammo stores for many years. Keep the boxes out of heat and damp, and rotate older lots into practice first.
